Aims and Scope
Historical Sociology and Modernity (HSM) is a peer-reviewed international journal dedicated to advancing critical scholarship on the interplay between social structures, historical processes, and the formation of modern societies. The journal fosters interdisciplinary dialogue between sociology, history, political economy, and cultural studies, examining how long-term historical transformations shape contemporary social phenomena, power relations, and collective identities.HSM provides a platform for theoretically rigorous and empirically grounded research that challenges conventional periodizations, rethinks the origins and trajectories of modernity, and explores alternative historical pathways. The journal particularly welcomes scholarship that bridges macro-historical analysis with micro-level social dynamics, and that interrogates athe Eurocentric assumptions underlying classical theories of social change.
